You are sorely mistaken, my friend, for you see...I have the greatest dad ever.
he's going to hate me for using this as the picture...but it's too great to pass up.
My dad is the best.
He's the leader of "Team Clare".
He never lets us give up, even when we're moving internationally and crying every day.
He believes in the power of family and sticking together and working hard.
He's my hero.
He got a twitter to be hip.
He was the first Clare to graduate high school.
He never went to college, but people always ask him where he got his PhD, because he is seriously the smartest person I know.
He told me, in sixth grade when the boys were making fun of me, that "you can't let the bastards win". Words to live by, dad.
He's been planning my college education since I was a baby, because he'll be damned if I'm not the first Clare to graduate from postsecondary education.
He's never not proud of us.
He puts up with my crazy.
He cries at the end of Mulan, when the dad says that "sometimes, the last flower to bloom is the most beautiful".
He cries when we watch "Say Yes to the Dress" because of the idea that one day I'll get married and move away.
He is seriously the funniest person I've ever met.
I am not the only person who thinks this.
I'm pretty sure he reads this blog, because he hints at it sometimes, but I don't think he'll outright say that he knows about it until I feel confident enough to show it to him.
He is one of my best friends.
I love you, daddy.
love,
me.
