Time Capsule Tuesday: Back to Broadway

It feels like it hasn't been that long since the last Time Capsule Tuesday, but I think that's just because I totally slacked this last week when it came to the ol'bloggy blog. Sorry.

Anywho, here you go. Random.org has selected a number between 1 and 788 (the number of tagged photos of me on Facebook). It is...

517! And the corresponding photo...

Awwwwwwwwww. First off, how young does Gaston look? I mean, none of you know him. But this was just last March, and little 15-year-old him is completely different than 16-year-old him. So adorable.

I look a little different, but not much. My hair is less sun-kissed. I definitely look younger, but like, there's not that much difference. And Jessie looks exactly the same.

This photo was taken at the Fullerton festival, a magical weekend experience I blogged about here. It's a moment where you completely immerse yourself in your art and the love that people bring to theatre. That community will always inspire me with its acceptance of anyone and everyone, and its willingness to try anything. That year's theme was "Back to Broadway", and Gaston had to be sent home early because he was caught in the bedroom of a bunch of senior girls. Smooth, buddy.

As I write this, my iTunes has played 3 Spring Awakening songs in a row, even though it's on shuffle. It knows I'm writing about theatre, I swear.

This picture makes me miss a number of things. I miss school (being on summer vacay, I see way less of Gaston, who happens to be my best friend forever. BFF for you cool kids). I miss Jessie (she's at college now. Well, she's home for the summer. But we still barely see each other). And I miss Laura. Now, she's not really "in" this picture...that is, we didn't know we were taking a picture of her. And neither did she. See the girl in the background on the right hand side? The girl wearing the same "Urinetown" shirt as Gaston and I? She was an Italian exchange student. She was amazing. Genuine, kind, sooo interesting and absolutely hilarious. She played Mama Strong in our production of Urinetown, and brought such a bright light into everybody's lives. She looks absolutely disgusted in this picture, and it makes me wonder what was on my sweet Italian love's mind.

love,
me.
